A Career in Progress

Updated: Aug 5, 2018

My name is Max Levowitz. I am currently finishing my bachelor's degree in Jazz Studies at The University of North Texas. I was born in New York, and spent some formative years in Katy Texas and moved to the Washington, D.C. area in 2005.

I started playing trumpet in the fifth grade (fall 2005), after taking piano lessons for quite a few years. Much to the disappointment of my father, who is a trumpet player, I originally wanted to play saxophone like my Uncle Karl. However, after a day or two I changed my mind and decided to play trumpet. I was pretty good close to the start, my parents are both brass musicians, but it wasn't until my sophomore year of high school that I decided I wanted to pursue music as a career.

It hasn't been easy, I started my bachelor's in the fall of 2013, and I have scratched and clawed my way towards the finish line. I am a work in progress, as is every musician and every person. This is my website, dedicated to my life as a growing musician, and as a growing person.

Performing at The National Jazz Workshop summer 2014.
